Via ferrata de Nax

Start at about 990–1000 m in the forest below Nax, at the hairpin bend signed "Via ferrata du Belvédère" on the road coming up from Bramois, shortly before Villetta. From the bend, follow the forest path along the cliff to the start. The route has its own PostBus stop (Sion – Nax line), under 5 minutes from the start. Exit at about 1220 m, then continue on a path up to the Belvédère de Nax. Return on foot either directly down the west side of the route or on the slightly longer path past the campsite; if you came by bus, you can instead walk up to Nax village and take the bus from there.

Swiss Alpine Club rating: K4; alpine experience 1/4, strength 2/4, endurance 2/4, mental 2/4. About 220 m of height gain, 1 h 30 on the route. Parts are aerial and exposed (two cable bridges); the first section is one of the most demanding. An information board with the safety rules is at the start, and about six signs along the route explain the equipment. The upper part was re-routed to avoid a falcon nesting area — stay on the equipped line. Nax Région: open all year, depending on the weather; equipment sets can be rented at the tourist office in Nax (CHF 25).
