About the trail

Traverse the sunny side of the upper Rhone valley from Oberwald to Münster, crossing mountain streams and walking through larch woodland and meadows above the Goms villages. This entry covers only the official twelve-kilometre Oberwald–Münster day route. It does not claim to include the almost twenty-nine-kilometre continuation to Bellwald. Official figures: 12 km, +680 m / −680 m, 4.00 hours. The complete federal track measures 12.03 km with accumulated +665 m / −669 m. Official classification: medium mountain hiking trail; medium fitness. No SAC T-grade is independently established. Use the marked mountain trail and take care at stream crossings. The official narrative names a panorama point at 1,712 m; the complete independently sampled federal track reaches 1,728 m, which is the stored track maximum. The Nordic Centre closure/diversion through 31 March 2027 is at least 1,247 m from this exact track and is not a part of this route. Summer hiking entry: snow-free conditions are required; no verified fixed opening months are asserted. Current closure layer checked 2026-10-24: no closure or diversion intersects this exact route; notices are not guaranteed complete or current on departure.
