About the trail

Climb from Spruga through the Onsernone woodland and old alpine paths to Alpe Pescéd and the Laghétt di Salèi area. Continue through Alpe Salèi to Pizzo Zucchero, return along the summit spur and descend through Val Lavadina and Lig’ünc to Comologno. The full official variant includes the summit excursion and starts in Spruga, not at the Vergeletto cable-car station. Official reference: 12 km, +1150/−1100 m, 5.33 hours. Complete federal track: 12.08 km, accumulated +1105/−1132 m. Official classification: medium mountain hiking trail; difficult fitness. The official page describes a steep initial ascent, a summit path that becomes steeper near Pizzo Zucchero, and many steps on the final descent. The roughly 1,100-metre ascent demands good fitness. Snow-free conditions are required; independently check hut and cable-car schedules, and do not substitute the cable-car shortcut for this complete route. Summer hiking entry: snow-free conditions are required. No independently established fixed opening months or SAC T-grade are asserted. Federal closure/diversion layer checked on 24 October 2026: no reported closure or diversion intersects this exact route; absence of a notice is not an assurance that the route is open.
