About the trail
Zermatt's signature panoramic loop connects five alpine lakes — Stellisee, Grindjisee, Grünsee, Moosjisee and Leisee — each offering a different perspective of the Matterhorn. From the Blauherd gondola station the trail undulates through larch woods and open pastures with the pyramid peak almost always in view. Stellisee, reached first, is famous for its mirror reflections at dawn. Waymarking is excellent and there is a mountain restaurant near Sunnegga at the end. Open from late June to mid-October. Combine with the Sunnegga funicular for an easy return to town.
