SchweizMobil regional route 39, Aletsch Panoramaweg, stage 1 from Belalp (about 2,095 m) to Riederfurka (about 2,065 m) above Riederalp. Official federal Wanderland geometry: 9.9 km measured (operator publishes 10 km), about 3 h 45 min, +697 m / -737 m, medium technique on mountain hiking trails. Views of the Great Aletsch Glacier from Aletschbord, a long zigzag descent past Oberaletsch chapel, the 124 m Massa gorge suspension bridge, then a climb through the protected Aletsch Forest to Villa Cassel. Safety: the suspension bridge, about 80 m above the gorge, requires a head for heights (official SwitzerlandMobility warning). Check lift timetables and current trail conditions before setting off.
