About the trail
A panoramic ridge climb to the summit of the Moléson (2,002 m), the emblematic peak of the Fribourg Pre-Alps. From the Plan-Francey funicular station the path (SwitzerlandMobility local route 270) crosses the mountain pastures of Le Gros Plané and Villard, where the armaillis still make cheese by hand, then follows the crest to the summit station, whose observatory terrace overlooks the Alpine chain, the Lake Geneva basin and the Gruyère region. The descent is by cable car to Plan-Francey, or on foot via Le Petit Plané or Tsuatsau-Dessus. Measured on the official federal track: 8.1 km, about 3 h, +722 m / -238 m. It is a marked mountain hiking trail (T2) requiring sure-footedness; the ground is usually clear of snow from May to October.
