About the trail
The Europaweg is a two-day high-level traverse linking Grächen and Zermatt along the eastern flank of the Matter valley. It offers a continuous grandstand view of the Weisshorn, Dom and Matterhorn and crosses the Charles Kuonen Suspension Bridge — one of the longest pedestrian suspension bridges in the world at 494 metres. The trail is exposed, includes fixed cables and passes areas prone to rockfall; some sections may close after storms. Overnight at the Europahütte splits the route. For experienced hikers only, with a head for heights. Season: July to mid-October.
