About the trail
Follow the full official circuit from Le Noirmont down through forest to La Goule and along the Doubs to Le Theusseret. Climb back towards Chez-le-Bolé and the Sommêtres ridge area, then return towards Le Noirmont. The complete federal route is stored; no optional climbing route or invented ridge shortcut has been appended. Official reference: 14 km, +700/−700 m, 4.42 hours. Complete federal track: 13.79 km, accumulated +705/−705 m. Official classification: medium mountain hiking trail; medium fitness. The official page identifies a very steep, slippery mountain ascent secured by chains and short ladders, and describes the Sommêtres ridge as narrow with near-vertical drops. This route requires sure-footedness and a head for heights; avoid wet or icy conditions and do not confuse it with a climbing itinerary. Take care beside the Doubs and do not infer safe swimming or access to optional ruins. No fixed opening season or SAC grade is independently established.
