About the trail
Historic pass between Valais and the Bernese Oberland, used for centuries by merchants and pilgrims. The ascent from Leukerbad is steep (or can be done by cable car) and then opens onto a lunar plateau around Daubensee lake, before the long descent to Sunnbüel and Kandersteg. Arid and magnificent landscape, very different from the rest of Valais.
