About the trail
A loop from Goldau through the debris field of the 1806 Rossberg landslide, which buried the hamlets of Goldau and Röthen and claimed 457 lives. The path climbs over the boulder-strewn slopes, now home to rare orchids, with views of Lake Lauerz, and returns to Goldau near the nature and wildlife park. Official reference: 8 km, +620/−620 m, 3 h 15 min. Complete federal track: 8.22 km, accumulated +618/−618 m. The path crosses rough boulder terrain and forest that is slippery when wet. The Rossberg slopes remain geologically active; follow any local signage. Goldau is a rail hub, but timetables are not verified here. No SAC T-grade or painted waymark colours are asserted. Federal closure/diversion layer checked on 25 October 2026: no notice reported in this route's area; absence of a notice is not an assurance that the route is open. Recheck official notices, weather and timetables before departure. Official original name: Goldauer Bergsturzspur. Geometry licence: OGD BY.
