About the trail
A quintessential Alpstein day: from Wasserauen climb steeply beside a stream to the Seealpsee, an intense-blue lake set beneath the Säntis massif. Continue up flower-strewn switchbacks to Meglisalp, a car-free alpine hamlet with a historic inn where cheese is still made by hand. Return via the Bogartenlücke pass. Steep in places, with cable-secured passages; sturdy boots essential. Season: June to mid-October. One of the most photogenic hikes in eastern Switzerland.
