About the trail

A short, mostly downhill classic from the Stockhorn summit station via the Stockenfeld towards Oberstockenalp, through light fir forest and karst ground to Hinterstockensee, ending with a brief climb to the Chrindi middle station of the Stockhornbahn. Both ends are cable-car stations; the summit viewing platform is not part of the stored track. Official reference: 3 km, +50/−540 m, 1.17 hours. Complete federal track: 3.42 km, accumulated +47/−549 m. The descent of about 540 m on mountain paths is steep in places and is harder on the knees than the short distance suggests. Snow can linger near the summit outside summer. Both ends depend on the Stockhornbahn, whose operating season and timetable are not verified here; check them before setting out. Summer hiking entry: snow-free conditions are required. No independently established fixed opening months, SAC T-grade or painted waymark colours are asserted. Federal closure/diversion layer checked on 25 October 2026: no reported closure or diversion intersects this exact route; absence of a notice is not an assurance that the route is open. Recheck official notices, local conditions, weather and any lift or railway timetables before departure. Official original name: Stockhorn-Panoramaweg. Geometry licence: OGD BY.
