About the trail
Val Bavona is one of the wildest valleys in Ticino, famous for having no permanent electricity supply and for its stone-built hamlets clinging to enormous rock walls. The walk from Cavergno up-valley to Foroglio passes several of these villages before reaching the 110-metre Foroglio waterfall, thundering beside a hamlet of granite-slab houses. Gentle gradient and shaded — a good option in warm weather. Grotti at Foroglio serve local dishes. Passable year round in the valley bottom.
